With the FA Cup final to play at Wembley on Saturday, United are at real risk of failing to qualify for European competition for next season. The only chance we have is by winning the cup outright to ensure a place in the Europa League.

Coverage of the final has been dominated by uncertainty over the manager’s position, which has been described by respected journalist Henry Winter as ‘public humiliation’ for Ten Hag. This was after The Guardian ran a story on a five-man shortlist of potential managerial candidates.

In an explosive interview with Dutch outlet Voetbal International, Ten Hag hit out at critics and ‘so-called experts’ in the British media.

“They said they want to change everything and they want to rebuild with me,” said Ten Hag. “This is what they told me directly.”

Ten Hag also revealed that INEOS plan to destroy Carrington and build an entirely new state-of-the-art training base for United.

This is something we have cited reports on in the past, so it doesn’t come as the biggest surprise.

“INEOS will change things in the club and certain projects have already started. Carrington will get completely destroyed, a new training ground will come.”

The Dutchman talks like a man convinced he is set to remain in charge at Old Trafford. He went on to admit this season has been a major disappointment but remains hopeful of ending it on a high by overcoming City in the FA Cup final.

“Let me be clear,” stressed Ten Hag. “It has been bad. It has been crap. But despite everything, we are going to play an FA Cup final.”
