The uncertainty behind the scenes at West Brom is delaying midfielder Rekeem Harper’s move to Ipswich Town, a report from The East Anglian Daily Times has revealed.

It was reported recently that Ipswich were close to completing the signing of Harper from the Baggies, for a fee of around £500,000.

Now however, it seems as though the Tractor Boys are being made to wait in their attempts to secure the services of the 21-year-old.

According to this latest update, Harper’s move to Portman Road is at an advanced stage, with the midfielder himself thought to be keen on the deal.

However, the deal has yet to be signed off on by the Baggies, due to the situation behind the scenes at The Hawthorns.

West Brom are still looking for a manager to replace Sam Allardyce, who left following the club’s relegation to the Championship at the end of last season, while Director of Football Luke Dowling left his role at The Hawthorns earlier this week.

One question about every current first-team West Brom player - can you get 100%?

Reports on Friday claimed that West Brom have now approached Championship rivals Barnsley over manager Valerien Ismael, and are apparently willing to pay the £2million compensation clause needing to prise him away from Oakwell.

The Verdict

This will be a rather frustrating situation for Ipswich to find themselves in you feel.

It seems as though there isn’t much more that they, or Harper, can do to complete this deal right now, and they simply must be patient and wait for things to sort themselves out at West Brom.

Indeed, with the Baggies now making moves to secure the services of Ismael, it may not be long until an official decision can be made in terms of clearing Harper for this move.

As a result, there doesn’t seem to be too much cause for concern for Ipswich here at the minute, although you imagine they would like to get Harper in and acclimatised to his signings as soon as possible ahead of the new season.
