According to Florian Plettenberg, Real Sociedad are the latest side to state their interest in the former Borussia Dortmund defender, Mats Hummels.
It had previously been reported that Bologna were the first side to offer the 35-year-old a contract proposal, despite interest from a number of sides.
However, Hummels turned down the chance to sign for the Serie A outfit, who are competing in the Champions League this season.
This allowed Brighton & Hove Albion to enter the race for the defender’s signature, with head coach Fabian Hürzeler conducting positive talks with Hummels over the phone.
Regardless, the 2014 World Cup winner has failed to decide on his future as of yet, with RCD Mallorca and now Real Sociedad becoming possible destinations as well.
It is understood that Hummels will choose where he will be plying his trade next season in the coming days, with Mallorca, Sociedad, and Brighton all possibilities, while retirement also remains an option for the former German international.
