Real Sociedad star speaks out on future amid Barcelona links | OneFootball

A headline member of the midfield ranks at La Liga outfit Real Sociedad has on Thursday provided an update on his future with the club.

The player in question? Martín Zubimendi.

The name of Spanish international Zubimendi has of course found itself front and centre in the country’s headlines once again ahead of the opening of the summer transfer window.

As much comes amid alleged interest in the services of the 25-year-old on the part of a number of the continent’s heavyweights.

To date, the likes of Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Manchester United have all been tipped to launch bids for Zubimendi with a view to next season.

Back in La Liga, meanwhile, Barcelona are long-term admirers, with Xavi understood to view the Basque native as the ideal profile to fill the long-term hole at the base of his midfield.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his future was put to Zubimendi himself once more.

During a press conference ahead of Real Sociedad’s showdown with Real Madrid on Friday night, the Spaniard was drawn on the prospect of departing for one of the many top clubs linked with his signature.

Zubimendi, however, was keen to quieten the noise surrounding his name, in reiterating his happiness at Anoeta:

“I am happy at Real Sociedad, it is like my home.”

“I cannot say that I will play my entire career at Real because perhaps the club does not want me to continue in the future. And I don’t worry about those rumors.”
