Real Sociedad star ruled out of Maccabi clash with Covid-19 | OneFootball

La Liga outfit Real Sociedad have on Thursday been dealt a blow on the personnel front. This comes amid confirmation that Luka Sučić has returned a positive test for Covid-19.

La Real are of course currently locked in action, on the continent.

Fresh off a morale-boosting 1-0 victory over Girona at the weekend, Imanol’s troops have made the trip to The Partizan Stadium, for a Europa League meeting with Maccabi Tel-Aviv.

Ahead of proceedings getting underway in Belgrade, Sociedad’s starting XI, in turn, was unveiled across the club’s social media platforms as follows:

As much, though, quickly gave rise to questions across the club’s fanbase.

This came amid surprise at the complete absence of the aforementioned Luka Sučić.

Attacking midfielder Sučić was widely expected to play at least some part in the action in the Serbian capital on Thursday evening.

As per a statement on the part of Sociedad themselves, cited by Mundo Deportivo, however:

‘The Croatian is not available for the match on matchday 3 of the Europa League due to a positive test for Covid-19, forced to stay at the team hotel in Belgrade.’
