The race for José Juan Macías is hotting up as Real Sociedad are reportedly preparing to offer Chivas $12m for the Mexico striker.
Mediotiempo claims that the Spanish side have yet to formally approach the Flock about the proposed deal, but they are planning to make contact in the coming days.
Sociedad are scheduled to start pre-season training on 14 August, and the LaLiga side may want to have the deal done and dusted before then.
Chivas have said that they will not stand in the way of the 20-year-old’s dream to play in Europe.
However, the club are determined to negotiate adequate compensation for the Guadalajara native who came through their academy.
A report in midweek suggested French side Marseille were ready to pay €10m for Macías, and Chivas will be hoping there is enough interest from European clubs to generate a bidding war.
Marseille would be able to offer the striker the prospect of Champions League football next season, while Sociedad will compete in the Europa League.
For now, Macías remains the star man for Los Rojiblancos.
They face Puebla on Saturday as Luis Fernando Tena’s men look to register their first win of the Guard1anes 2020 season.
