A member of the midfield ranks at Real Madrid should be considered the ‘unsung hero’ of the club’s return to winning ways on Saturday.
Real, of course, are fresh off a dominant victory on the domestic front.
After welcoming Osasuna to Spain’s capital fresh off successive defeats across all competitions, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops ran riot, en route to an eventual 4-0 triumph.
Vinícius Jr. proved himself the star of the show, notching a hat-trick amid a brilliant all-round display.
Jude Bellingham, meanwhile, was also on target for the first time this season, with youngster Raúl Asencio having grabbed the headlines by way of a superb debut assist.
And yet, at the heart of almost everything positive which Real Madrid conjured up on Saturday was Eduardo Camavinga.
Restored to his berth at the base of midfield in the absence of Aurélien Tchouaméni, Camavinga took full advantage of his opportunity.
The Frenchman’s reading of the game was absolutely elite, his tackling firm and effective, and his passing crisp and accurate.
All told, Camavinga barely put a foot wrong all afternoon, proving to boss Carlo Ancelotti why he should be a near-guaranteed starter when fully fit and firing.
