September was very nearly a perfect month for Real Madrid, just moments away from recording six wins out of six across La Liga and the Champions League.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side had endured a disappointing August, dropping points against Mallorca and Las Palmas that allowed rivals Barcelona to get a jump on them in the title race.
But September began with successive 2-0 La Liga wins over Real Betis and Real Sociedad either side of the international break. Then came an opening Champions League victory against Stuttgart on matchday one, followed by putting four goals past Espanyol.
Alaves proved a tougher test, but Madrid prevailed 3-2, before only a late Angel Correa equaliser denied the European champions maximum points in the city derby against Atletico.
Just over 42,000 Madrid fans took part in 90min's WhatsApp poll (link to follow below) and these are the standout individuals from September they voted for.

Kylian Mbappe characterised Madrid's slow start to the season, perhaps the result of his lack of proper rest following on from Euro 2024. But the Frenchman burst into life in September, scoring in every appearance during the month. It was five goals and an assist in his four La Liga games, plus another in the Champions League for good measure.
Injury ensured Jude Bellingham missed Madrid's first two September fixtures, but he returned to the lineup for the visit of Stuttgart and held that place for the three remaining La Liga fixtures.
Meanwhile, Thibaut Courtois kept two clean sheets in La Liga, although his month actually ended disappointingly when he suffered an injury in the derby. Atletico fans behind his goal during that game also threw objects, including lighters, onto the pitch.

There was a clear winner in this poll. Vinicius Junior took 59%, that's almost two thirds, of the vote.
The Brazilian winger was a source of creativity and danger throughout. Even when he didn't directly contribute a goal or assist against Real Betis, he won the penalty converted by Mbappe.
He did score against both Real Sociedad and Espanyol, only playing 35 minutes off the bench in the latter and also registering an assist. There were then futher assists against Alaves and Atletico.
