An insight into the plans of the powers that be at La Liga giants Real Madrid for on-loan defender Rafa Marín has today been forthcoming.

And the news will be met with excitement on the part of those hopeful of the youngster being afforded a chance to prove his talents as part of the first-team setup back in Madrid in the near future.

As per a report from Diario AS, the decision has already been made: Marín will be part of Carlo Ancelotti’s Real squad for the 2024/25 campaign.

The 21-year-old has spent the season to date securing for himself some much-needed La Liga experience, during a temporary spell with Alavés.

And, on his way to an impressive 22 starts, Marín has done enough to convince the brass at his parent club of his readiness to contribute with immediate effect starting in the summer.

The Spanish youth international will in turn join a crop of central defensive options at the disposal of Carlo Ancelotti featuring the talents of Antonio Rüdiger, Éder Militão, David Alaba, and, potentially, Nacho.

With Alaba sidelined long-term, Militão fresh off an ACL blow of his own, and Nacho yet to sign a new contract, though, Marín could well fancy his chances of carving out some considerable minutes for himself in Spain’s capital, over the early months of the new term.
