Brahim Diaz was the star of the show last night as Real Madrid secured a 1-0 victory over RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg.
The 24-year-old Spaniard scored the only goal of the game on Tuesday night, and it was a special goal from the former Manchester City man.
However, Brahim had to leave the field with less than ten minutes of normal time left to be played due to a calf injury.
Speaking after the game, Brahim sounded optimistic about the muscle issue that he sustained, as he said: “I’m not sure right now. I felt a kick and then it was like my calf seized up. I guess we’ll run tests tomorrow [Wednesday] and nothing will come of it.”
Now, though, MARCA is reporting that Brahim will undergo tests tomorrow, i.e., Thursday, to determine the severity of his injury.
This comes after Carlo Ancelotti decided to give the players a day off from training following their return from Germany.
As things stand, everything seems to indicate that at least there is no muscle tear. In that case, the time out on the sidelines from Brahim will be considerably reduced, especially if it turns out to be just a knock.
For now, though, Brahim is regarded as a doubt for Sunday’s La Liga clash against Rayo Vallecano, which is a concern for Real Madrid.
With Jude Bellingham already unavailable, losing Brahim also to an injury could become an issue for Ancelotti & co. As such, tomorrow’s test results will be eagerly awaited by those at Valdebebas.
In case, the injury does keep Brahim out for an extended period, it could open the doors for Arda Guler to get more minutes in the matches to come.
