Real Madrid narrowly defeated CP Cacereño in their Copa de Rey last 32 clash on Wednesday evening.
Los Blancos were expected to easily defeat their opponents, who play in the Spanish fourth tier.
However, they struggled to overcome a plucky Cacereno side.
Real won by a single goal, with Rodrygo netting the winner in the 69th minute.
Eden Hazard has found game-time at Real Madrid hard to come by this season but was given the opportunity to impress at Estadio Príncipe Felipe.
However, he struggled to make his mark in the match.
Hazard was largely anonymous throughout his time on the pitch.
He made way in the 68th minute as he was replaced by Alvaro. Rodrygo scored a minute later.
His statistics from the match have been compiled by Relevo and shared by Football Espana. They don’t read well for the Belgian midfielder.
Hazard didn’t record a single shot, cross or dribble during his time on the pitch.
His highlights from the game have been compiled by YouTube user EH10RMBLG. Watch them below…
Hazard’s downfall really is sad to see.
He looks a shadow of the player he was at Chelsea, when he was one of the very best players in world football.
Carmelo Mereciano started for Cacereno.
He spoke about Hazard’s display after the match and he was not impressed by what he saw.
“Hazard? It was like he didn’t care about the game. He didn’t want to take the ball, he didn’t run. He was totally unnoticed,” he told Diario AS, per Madrid Zone.
Carlo Ancelotti defended Hazard for his display.
Speaking after the match, the Italian manager said. per Marca: “You can’t play football [on Cacereno’s pitch]. For me it’s not football, it’s another sport.
“It’s nice because small teams can fight and compete with bigger teams.
“It’s good for the fans, but the fans also want to see beautiful matches.
“I liked [Hazard]. It’s difficult to evaluate players individually, it was impossible to play. Smaller players like Hazard or Rodrygo suffer more, but he delivered.”
Hazard turns 32 later this week. Hopefully he can get back to his unplayable best soon.
