According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, the situation between Real Madrid and their defensive target Leny Yoro is pretty much straightforward.

Yoro has expressed a strong desire to join Real Madrid and his preference has been communicated to Manchester United, Liverpool, and Paris Saint-Germain, all of whom are aware of his choice.

Romano highlighted that Real Madrid are reluctant to pay a substantial fee for a player who could potentially become a free agent next summer. However, there is a belief that Lille may be willing to sell Yoro during this transfer window.

Earlier, it was reported that Lille were holding onto their €60 million price tag but Madrid are not willing to go beyond €40 million.

Interestingly, despite interest from other clubs, the path for them to aggressively pursue Yoro would only open if negotiations between Real Madrid and Lille break down, allowing the player to consider offers from other clubs. But the possibility of this is extremely narrow.

The ball is in Real Madrid’s court

Real Madrid’s interest in Yoro has been widely reported, and the player is willing to be patient regardless of when the transfer takes place.

Reports suggest that Yoro is even open to remaining at Lille for another year before joining Real Madrid on a free transfer. This strategy could exert pressure on Lille to negotiate with Real Madrid sooner rather than later.

Discussions between Yoro’s representatives and Real Madrid have been ongoing over the past few weeks without any issues reported from the player’s side. It appears that an agreement is close to being reached.

The primary obstacle now is for Real Madrid to come to terms with Lille, who are holding out for a significant transfer fee. These recent developments have put Real Madrid in a strong position and intensified the pressure on Lille to make a decision.

Real Madrid’s strategic approach, coupled with Yoro’s clear preference to join them, has been pivotal in shaping the current situation. The ball is now in Real Madrid’s court despite the waiting game.

Interestingly, regardless of Lille’s next move, the momentum appears to be favouring Real Madrid in this negotiation.
