Brahim Diaz’s future beyond the current campaign continues to be uncertain. The 23-year-old is currently away on loan at AC Milan from Real Madrid for the third consecutive season and it is unclear where he will be playing next term.

There have been reports indicating that Real Madrid finally wish to bring him back and include him in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans next season after having farmed him out on loan for three years in a row.

However, at the same time, AC Milan are believed to be intent on signing the young Spaniard on a permanent basis, considering he has become a vital cog in Stefano Pioli’s plans at San Siro.

Now, journalist Daniele Longo has issued an update on the future of Diaz, stating that the 23-year-old has grown fond of Milan and cares about the team deeply, having spent close to three years in a row at the Serie A outfit.

During his spell at San Siro, Diaz has accumulated 96 appearances for Milan, scoring 15 goals and setting up nine more. He was one of the vital components in the Rossoneri side that won the Scudetto last season and has been in good touch this campaign.

So, it is natural for Milan to want to sign him permanently at the end of the season. The journalist indicates that there is a verbal agreement between Real Madrid and Milan over the €22 million purchase option included in the loan deal.

However, it must not be forgotten that the Merengues could re-sign him for a fee of €27 million. So, the situation will be studied calmly in June before a decision on Diaz and his future is made.

As things stand, a permanent move to Milan makes the most sense for the 23-year-old given that he is settled in the team and is a prominent player for Pioli. Returning to Madrid, he could have to accept a secondary role given the plethora of options at Ancelotti’s disposal.
