What began as a straightforward comment from Endrick has unexpectedly evolved into a fun and endearing nickname among his peers.

Initially, Endrick expressed his admiration for Bobby Charlton, the legendary Manchester United striker who made his mark in the 1960s.

Despite Charlton’s footballing era being long before Endrick’s time, the young Brazilian spoke highly of him, highlighting him as one of his favourite players.

This simple admiration has taken on a life of its own, leading to Endrick being affectionately nicknamed “Bobby” by his Real Madrid teammates.

The trend has even reached Brazilian fans, who embraced this playful nickname during the recent match between Brazil and Ecuador.

During the game, which took place early in the morning in Curitiba as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the fans chanted, “You are Bobby Charlton, you are Bobby Charlton,” in support of Endrick.

The 18-year-old forward, though not on the field for a single minute, responded warmly to the chants, acknowledging the fans and enjoying the light-hearted joke.

Endrick’s rise to fame has been marked by these charming moments, although he did not feature in the Brazil-Ecuador match, which Brazil won 1-0.

His reaction to the fans’ playful chant was a testament to his good humour and ability to embrace the fun surrounding him.

The nickname “Bobby” first emerged after Endrick, in an interview with a YouTuber, revealed his admiration for Bobby Charlton.

Charlton, a revered figure in football history and a World Cup winner in 1966, was cited by Endrick as one of his idols. This revelation, combined with Endrick’s earlier statement that he preferred Jude Bellingham over Neymar, stirred some reactions in Brazil.

The fun nickname has even made its way into the Real Madrid dressing room. During a recent celebration of their European Super Cup victory in Warsaw, Jude Bellingham joined in the jest by commenting “Come on, Bobby!!!” on Endrick’s Instagram post, adding to the camaraderie and light-hearted spirit surrounding the young Brazilian star.
