Real Madrid travel to face Barcelona in a must-win El Clasico contest this afternoon.
With a four-point gap to the La Liga leaders and only four games to go, Real Madrid must reduce the gap to keep their title dream alive.
However, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have endured a poor record in El Clasico contests this season. Real Madrid have lost all three previous meetings, including a 4-0 defeat in the reverse league fixture and last month’s Copa del Rey final loss.
However, Los Blancos do have the advantage of additional rest. Barcelona exited the Champions League semi-finals in midweek after a dramatic defeat to Inter Milan in extra time.
Carlo Ancelotti’s options are thin, particularly in defence where Aurelian Tchouameni and Federico Valverde are likely to deputise again. Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao, Dani Carvajal, David Alaba and Ferland Mendy are all ruled out for the Spanish champions.
Further forward, Eduardo Camavinga is a major absence in midfield, though Rodrygo should return to the squad after illness. However, Arda Guler could retain his place after a stunning goal in last week’s win over Celta Vigo.
Real Madrid predicted XI: Courtois; Valverde, Asencio, Tchouameni, F Garcia; Ceballos, Modric; Guler, Bellingham, Vinicius; Mbappe.
Barcelona host Real Madrid in La Liga on Sunday May 11th 2025. Kick-off is 15:15 BST.
The Barcelona v Real Madrid game will be shown live on Premier Sports 1 and LALIGATV.
