Real Madrid picked up their first La Liga win of the 2024/25 season on Sunday evening as they defeated Real Valladolid 3-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

It was far from a convincing display from the reigning champions but goals from Federico Valverde, Brahim Diaz, and new signing Endrick ensured that three points were in the bag.

While the performance of the team might not have been at the level needed, the occasion turned out to be a truly memorable one for Endrick.

Having not gotten any minutes in the UEFA Super Cup match or the league opener against Mallorca, the 18-year-old made his official debut for Real Madrid on Sunday and capped it off with a brilliant goal.

Endrick sets a new record

Indeed, it was a special strike from a special player on Sunday evening as he unleashed a powerful finish with his right foot to make it 3-0 and celebrate his first goal for Real Madrid, that too on his debut.

By doing so, Endrick became the youngest foreigner to score for Real Madrid in La Liga history.

The Brazilian’s goal came at 18 years and 35 days, as he surpassed club legend Raphael Varane  (18 years and 152 days).

Endrick elated

The 18-year-old wonderkid spoke to Real Madrid TV after the game and could not hide his joy and satisfaction at marking his debut with a fine goal.

“I am very happy. It’s a dream that is coming true. I had already played here, at the Bernabéu, with the Brazilian national team and I was able to score a goal, but it wasn’t with Real Madrid. Today was my official debut and I’ve also made my debut in La Liga,” he said.

Continuing, Endrick added: “I am speechless. I can only thank God for everything that is happening to me. I always tried to win for all the people of Brazil, but now also for the people of Spain. I want us to be united and that whenever there is a match they can enjoy it.

“I’m very happy to be with these great players, who I only saw in video games. It’s very important for me.”

The youngster then discussed what he could offer to the team, saying: “The first thing I spoke to Ancelotti when I arrived was that I could offer work and talent. I have continued to work. I’m going to fail, but I’m also going to get it right.

“I’m a new boy, I have a lot to learn, but I’m very happy. Everyone is with me and I keep working and waiting for my moment. I trust the coach a lot and I will wait.”

Things were not going very well for Real Madrid in the first half but they improved after the break. Discussing what manager Carlo Ancelotti said in his half-time talk, Endrick said:

“It’s a very good team with experience, but also young players. The coach spoke to us at half-time and we were able to come back and score the goals.”

On his experience of playing at the Santiago Bernabeu for the first time as a Real Madrid player, Endrick said:

“We are all happy. We played here, with our families watching us. It was a good game. My family know how hard I have worked and how much we have suffered. People criticised me and my family too.

“We went through a lot, but we are all together. To be here living this moment is wonderful and to share it with them is magnificent.”

Finally, he thanked the fans for showing up and supporting the team, saying: “Hello fans. I want to thank everyone for coming to the Bernabéu. Hala Madrid!”
