Endrick has received his first-ever call-up to the Brazil national team at only 17 years old, making him the youngest player to be called up since Ronaldo in 1993.

The on-loan Palmeiras striker has already agreed to join Real Madrid in 2024, signing for the 14-time Champions League winners for around €72 million. He will join them after he turns 18.

Before that move, Endrick will join the Selecao for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina later this month.

Endrick is in sensational form. Just days ago, the youngster spearheaded Palmieras to a comeback win against table-topping Botafogo.

Botafogo held a three-goal lead over Palmeiras, but Endrick took the game by the scruff of the neck and brought his side back into the tie.

For the first goal, the young centre-forward took the ball in front of the centre circle and started skipping past challenges before veering into the box and angling a left-footed shot into the net.

He controlled a loose ball with his knee for the second goal before blasting into the bottom corner to spur his side on.

Endrick also played a pivotal role in the equaliser, crossing into the box for the knockdown that led to Jose Manuel Lopez’s goal.

Palmeiras scored the winner late on, leading to a meltdown from Crystal Palace, Lyon and Botafogo owner John Textor.

The move to fast-track Endrick into the national team is not without its supporters.

Arsenal attacker Gabriel Jesus has been struggling with niggling injuries that have made him unavailable for Brazil recently.

Jesus did get a call-up from interim coach Fernando Diniz, but it remains to be seen if he’ll be fit after missing Arsenal’s clash with Newcastle United this weekend.

When Jesus has played, he has also not been prolific enough to lead the line, and Tottenham Hotspur’s Richarlison has the same problem.

With both strikers failing to deliver for the Selecao, Diniz has opted to call up Endrick and give him a chance.

Diniz has shown his openness to giving youngsters a chance in the national team since taking over, and Endrick will be looking to take it with both hands.
