Real Madrid starlet Arda Guler cleared the air about his relationship with Carlo Ancelotti in a recent interview amid speculations of friction due to his lack of minutes.

The Turkish youngster, after all, finds himself quite low on the Italian manager’s pecking order despite his good performances this season and is far from the regular starter he deserves to be.

Rumours of a possible departure in January came to the fore in recent weeks with his former club Fenerbahce reportedly interested in the transaction. But those have been quickly dismissed.

Now, as revealed in a report by AS, however, the Turkish club could stand to gain even if Guler stays at Real Madrid.

A hidden clause

The Spanish outlet further that Guler’s contract with Real Madrid includes a clause that demands the Merengues to pay Fenerbahce €2 million if the player plays 15 more games for Real Madrid.

Considering that the player is only growing in stature, he may well hit that mark this season especially given how long the campaign runs.

Real Madrid have already shelled out €20 million for the young midfielder as a fixed transfer fee and could thus fork out another premium in variables soon. Given the player’s talent, however, it will be seen as a bargain.

With Guler ready to fight for his place under Ancelotti despite his current predicament, it will be interesting to see how the manager handles his situation after the international break.

As competitions like the Copa del Rey arrive on the scene, it is almost a given that the youngster will see more starts.

So far this season, the teenager has played seven games and recorded three starts for Real Madrid. In that duration, he averages 1.3 key passes per game and has created three big chances.
