Real Madrid secured the contract renewal of key player Thibaut Courtois recently, with the Belgian international set to extend his stay at the club until 2027.

There are three other players in the squad whose current contracts stand to run out in 2026 – David Alaba, Dani Carvajal, and Antonio Rudiger.

No plans to renew Alaba

According to Melchor Ruiz of COPE, Real Madrid are not currently considering a renewal for David Alaba.

In fact, Los Blancos may even be open to his departure during the ongoing transfer window, should he seek more playing time ahead of the FIFA World Cup next year.

Alaba has endured a difficult past couple of years, having spent a large part of it on the sidelines due to an ACL injury he sustained in December 2023.

As such, concerns remain at Real Madrid over his fitness, especially given that he suffered a fresh injury setback during the FIFA Club World Cup, just when he was about to return from a previous fitness issue.

Furthermore, the Austrian international, who is one of the highest-earners in the squad, is currently the fifth-choice centre-back at Real Madrid, behind Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, Dean Huijsen, and Raul Asencio.

Given all the factors, Real Madrid are not ruling out a departure if Alaba asks to leave and a suitable offer were to arrive.

What appears certain is that in case the former Bayern Munich man does stay put, a new contract offer is unlikely to be presented.
