Real Madrid remain strongly interested in a deal to sign Lautaro Martinez from Inter, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As per Tuttosport’s print edition, the La Liga giants want Lautaro and Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain to reinforce their attacking options for next season.

Inter could secure a deal for El Toro which would total around €90 million, split between €60 million paid by Real Madrid and the €27 million that the Nerazzurri still haven’t paid for Achraf Hakimi’s transfer.

This would enable Inter to record a huge capital gain on Lautaro – although Racing Club are due 10% of any transfer fee – who is only worth €11.6 million in their accounts.

Lautaro would receive an annual salary worth €9 million from Real Madrid should the deal go through, which the Turin-based paper seemed to think was possible (although Lautaro assured today that he wasn’t leaving Inter).

The 23-year-old will sign a contract extension with Inter anyway, increasing his wages to €4.5 million per season, but that doesn’t mean he will be guaranteed to stay in Milan.

In exchange for Lautaro, Real Madrid could offer Inter the chance to take Luka Jovic on loan, who is currently at Eintracht Frankfurt after failing to settle with Los Blancos.

Jovic has disappointed since joining Real Madrid but is kick-starting his career in Germany, where he had originally come to fame with a couple of prolific seasons.

Inter’s problem would be that the Serbian striker earns €10 million annually, and that is not a salary they can afford to pay.
