ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Asensio is having a decent 2020-21 season. The midfielder is averaging a WhoScored player rating of 6.69.

However, the aforementioned figure does prove that Asensio is not worth €70 million.

Also, the 25-year-old has a current market value of €35 million, which backs up the aforementioned argument.

Therefore, we don’t want to see Liverpool spend €70 million on Asensio.

It has been reported that midfielder Gini Wijnaldum will depart Liverpool for Barcelona on a free transfer come the end of the season.

With that being the case, Liverpool should be looking to sign a midfielder ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.

As football is the world game, there are plenty of midfielders that Liverpool could sign.

It would also be fair to assume that Liverpool could sign a player that is just as good as Asensio, except at a much cheaper price.
