Real Madrid are already working towards strengthening their squad for the next season after having failed to meet their objectives in the current campaign.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is all set to arrive to reinforce the right-back position while a move for Dean Huijsen seems to be on track as well to address the need of a new central defender.

Beyond that, Los Blancos are also looking for a new left-back and a central midfielder.

Tijjani Reijnders on Real Madrid’s agenda

As such, Radio MARCA now reports that Real Madrid have set their sights on AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders ahead of the summer window.

The 26-year-old Netherlands international has grown into one of the most reliable midfielders in Serie A since joining the Rossoneri in 2023.

A permanent fixture in the side, Reijnders has a contract with Milan until 2030, having signed a renewal in March earlier this year.

Despite that, Real Madrid have decided to go after the Dutchman, putting them ahead of other potential targets to strengthen the midfield department, with Toni Kroos said to have recommended the player.

The Merengues saw in close quarters what Reijnders is capable of, as he helped Milan secure a victory at the Santiago Bernabeu this season in the UEFA Champions League, even scoring on the night.

However, it must be noted that Premier League giants Manchester City are also very much interested in acquiring the services of the 26-year-old midfielder, as confirmed by the reliable David Ornstein.

In fact, Pep Guardiola’s side have already contacted AC Milan to explore the possibility of the deal and are hopeful of finalising an agreement for the midfielder.

So, it will be anything but easy for Real Madrid to sign Reijnders, who seems to be on his way out of San Siro only months after signing a long-term renewal.
