Lucas Vazquez is one of the players at Real Madrid whose current contract expires at the end of the ongoing season.

Indeed, the 33-year-old right-back will see his deal run out on June 30, 2025, along with the likes of Luka Modric and Jesus Vallejo.

As far as Modric is concerned, a new deal appears the likeliest possibility whereas Vallejo’s exit is pretty much guaranteed at this point.

Vazquez’s future uncertain

However, according to Matteo Moretto, Lucas Vazquez’s future at Real Madrid is far from certain at this moment and it is not ruled out that he will the Santiago Bernabeu when the season is over.

Vazquez has become the second-choice right-back for Real Madrid in recent years, providing cover to Dani Carvajal in the position.

With Carvajal’s season-ending ACL injury, the Galician has had to step up and take up responsibility as the regular starter.

And while he has had his share of moments, Vazquez has largely struggled, especially in the big games, prompting Carlo Ancelotti to turn to Federico Valverde as a solution in recent weeks.

With Real Madrid aiming to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool in the summer and Carvajal working to return in time for the FIFA Club World Cup, Vazquez could find himself dropping down the pecking order at the club.

As things stand, no renewal talks have taken place between Real Madrid and Vazquez, meaning the possibility of a departure is very much on the table. Much will depend on how things go for the veteran Spaniard between now and the end of the season.
