Real Madrid veteran likely to start against Las Palmas after being left out against Almeria | OneFootball

Journalist Luis Neito has reported via AS that Luka Modric is most likely to start in midfield for Real Madrid against Las Palmas tonight.

In a 4-3-1-2 approach Carlo Ancelotti used against Almeria last time out, Modric was left out entirely as the Ballon d’Or remained an unused substitute.

Now, it can be argued that Eduardo Camavinga deserves a spot against Las Palmas too. After all, his presence reenergized the Real Madrid team against Almeria, but Modric’s presence will bring the much-needed creativity.

How will Ancelotti approach this game?

Ancelotti is thinking about how to deal with Garcia Pimienta’s usual 4-3-3 formation for Las Palmas.

One option is to be more physical, which would allow Camavinga to join the midfield alongside Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde, with Kroos slightly ahead of Modric.

Another choice is to pick Modric over Camavinga, which would increase the creative outlay within the team in the middle of the field.

As reported before, Brahim is likely to replace the suspended Jude Bellingham so if Ancelotti uses the same 4-3-1-2 approach he did against Almeria, it would be interesting to see what kind of midfield outley he deploys.

Furthermore, there is a high chance that a certain Tchouameni could be used as a centre-back given that Real Madrid only have two senior defenders at their disposal, namely Antonio Rudiger and Nacho.

For that matter, the German international is expected to be rested, resulting in Tchouameni being deployed as a defender. If that happens, there will be an open place in the midfield where Modric can work his craft.
