Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos is getting increasingly worried about his continuity beyond the ongoing season and Sergio Santos (h/t MadridXtra) writes that the reason is not only related to his personal preference but it is also linked to a series of injuries he has suffered in the last few seasons.
At 34 years of age, the German international remains a key member of Carlo Ancelotti’s blueprint and despite starting the ongoing season as an alternative, his importance has yet again been felt following injuries to Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni.
Kroos’ future at Real Madrid hinges entirely on his personal determination, as his relationship with club president Florentino Perez is unparalleled.
Many years ago, he conveyed to the president that the moment he bid farewell to Real Madrid would mark the end of his playing career.

Furthermore, back in 2021, following Germany’s elimination from Euro 2021, the midfielder decided to call time on his international career just to focus on Real Madrid and this decision was aimed at prioritizing his physical well-being during international breaks.
His primary focus is not to stretch his career beyond its optimal duration but to retire at a point where his passion and importance in the sport are felt.
However, an injury he suffered during the 2021-22 season continues to pose challenges and even the strain on his hamstring area gets aggravated during periods of continuous action.
Just like last season, Kroos does not wish to make a hurried decision. As such, a decision will revolve around assessing his role as the upcoming matches of the season unfold.
Kroos maintains the assurance that he can depart from the club at his own discretion. However, speculation is resurfacing within the club, suggesting that there might be a need to persuade him once more to postpone the decision to finish his career with Real Madrid.
