It has been a strange start to the season for Real Madrid midfield icon Luka Modric. The legendary Croatian international, who turned 38 earlier this month, has found game-time hard to come by under Carlo Ancelotti in 2023/24.
Modric was out of contract at the end of the season and had offers to leave for Saudi Arabia. But he opted to renew and continue at Real Madrid.
And while it was expected that there would be a transition in midfield this season, the drastic reduction in his minutes was not anticipated.
Given the situation, Modric’s future at Real Madrid has been dragged under the spotlight, with talk of a potential January exit not being ruled out.
Amidst this, former Real Madrid player and director Predrag Mijatovic, who happens to be close to Modric’s camp, has revealed that the Croatian international has offers from the USA, with Inter Miami, in particular, showing a keen interest.
Indeed, Mijatovic claims that Inter Miami’s co-owner David Beckham met with the Real Madrid midfielder a while ago to discuss the possibility of a transfer.
He further added that former Barcelona captain and Inter Miami’s new MVP Lionel Messi himself is showing an interest in teaming up with Modric.
“He has received offers from the United States, from many teams and from this one [Inter Miami] in particular. He already had an offer from Saudi Arabia but he wanted to stay at Madrid,” Mijatovic revealed on Carrusel (via AS).
“Messi himself has been personally interested in the possibility. In Croatia a few days ago Modric met Beckham, where they had lunch,” he added.

Earlier this week, reports emerged claiming that both Luka Modric and Toni Kroos were unhappy with their current roles at Real Madrid this season.
“Nobody is happy when they are out of the game. After all in my career, where I’m not sure I’ve ever been on the bench for three games in a row, I found that feeling especially strange,” Modric had admitted during the international break.
And after last night’s game against Girona, during which the Croatian international remained an unused substitute, it could lead to more frustration within the iconic midfielder.
It remains to be seen whether it leads to an exit in January or if Modric opts to stay and see out the season at Real Madrid. But as things stand, it appears that this will be the 38-year-old’s final season with Los Blancos.
