Major developments in Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies’ long-touted move to Real Madrid have been confirmed late on Monday.
It is of course common knowledge that Spanish giants Real have identified Davies as a prime transfer target, with a view to next season.
Keen to reinforce the left-back options at the disposal of head coach Carlo Ancelotti, Bayern Munich’s star stopper is viewed as the ideal addition for present and future alike.
In turn, negotiations have long been opened with all of Davies himself, the Canadian’s entourage, and the brass at the Allianz Arena.
To this point, the key sticking point in any potential deal came in the form of the asking price laid out by the board at German champions Bayern.
The Bavarians are understood to be seeking a fee in the region of €50 million to allow Davies to depart.
Ahead of the expiration of his contract in Munich in a little over a year’s time, it had in turn been suggested that Real Madrid were refusing to offer in excess of €35 million, bonuses included.
If the latest word stemming from the media this evening is anything to go by, however, then Los Blancos, it would appear, have had a change of heart.
As per a report from Cadena SER, it has been decided by Florentino Pérez and his team of directors that the time is right to pay up, so as not to risk losing out on such a key transfer target.
As a result, Real will imminently put a new offer before their counterparts at Bayern Munich, totalling the requested €50 million.
SER point towards the transfer, in turn, being in ‘the final stretch’, with the La Liga table-toppers ‘very close’ to sealing Davies’ signing.
