While Real Madrid have been busy in the current transfer window, they have been equally active in securing deals for the near future. Given the club’s rich history, it is not difficult for them to win a player’s commitment well before the official signing.

One such player linked with a move to the Bernabeu next summer was Fabian Ruiz. The Spanish midfielder has been on the radar of several top European clubs in recent years and was expected to make a move at the end of his contract with Napoli.

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, Paris Saint-Germain are set to gatecrash Los Blancos‘ plans. The French club are closing in on signing Ruiz in the ongoing transfer window with talks already in advanced stages.

Napoli and PSG are optimistic about reaching an agreement in the coming days, especially given that PSG football advisor Luis Campos is a big fan of the Spanish midfielder.

This comes as a big blow to the Madrid offices as Ruiz was seen as the long-term replacement for Luka Modric. With the 26-year-old set to move to Ligue 1, Ancelotti’s side will have to identify alternate profiles.

Last season, Ruiz made 32 league appearances for the Naples-based side, scoring seven goals and providing four assists. The Spanish international also averaged over seven defensive actions per game.

The transfer fee involved in Ruiz’s move is expected to be around €25 million including add-ons, reports Corriere dello Sport. Given that Real Madrid have already spent big to acquire Aurelien Tchouameni, it is unlikely that they will hijack the move of Ruiz this summer.
