As one of world football’s highest-selling jerseys, Real Madrid have a responsibility of delivering eye-catching and well-designed kits year after year.

Adidas have been working with Los Blancos for over 25 years now to ensure the same, and have once again delivered three standout kits for the ongoing season.

The clarity and artistry on the jerseys are being done justice with equally captivating performances on the field and results across competitions by the team.

Now, the club have revealed a fourth kit for the season and will don it against Athletic Club when La Liga resumes, reports Arancha Rodriguez.

A luxurious design

The latest jersey is designed by the Y-3 clothing firm of designer Yohji Yamamoto and boasts a captivating purple colour all over. It also includes two kits for goalkeepers – one black and one orange.

The partnership with Y-3 is part of Adidas’ ongoing collaboration with the Japanese designer, a combination that has produced clothes with high-end designs and premium materials.

Y-3 represents Adidas’ luxury label and sits at the pinnacle of its catalogue. Unsurprisingly, the fourth jersey designed for Real Madrid thus boasts of a special HEAT.RDY technology to absorb moisture and prioritise comfort.

The design

The shirt boasts of a predominantly dark-purple background with the Real Madrid crest sitting in its usual position on the right.

The Y3 logo replaces that of Adidas on the left side, signifying the collaboration with the Japanese designer.

The highlight of the kit, however, are the two marvellously designed roses on the bottom right and top left of the shirt in a mild pink colour. Also on the jersey is the signature of the designer, Yamamoto.

The back of the jersey features a third rose, albeit smaller, and the players’ names in a unique font.

It will thus be interesting to see the Merengues don the new colours against Athletic Club after the international break. Andriy Lunin will be seen in the new colours as well, as he will wear the orange version of the goalkeeper’s uniform.
