Real Madrid’s interest in Palmeiras forward Endrick is more than evident. But what Jose Felix Diaz has written for MARCA comes as a surprise.

According to the journalist, Real Madrid are leading the race mostly because of their approach. They were the first team to invite the footballer and his parents to let them know about the environment he would be getting if signed in 2024.

So for now, all bases are covered as the footballer’s representatives are aware of what Valdebebas is like.

Furthermore, months after his parents’ visit, representatives from the Madrid team travelled to Brazil to see Endrick in action in his first game as a professional footballer.

It is understood that those sitting in the Madrid offices are treating Endrick as a priority. The reason being the interest he has developed across Europe. But for now, all the suitors can do is watch him in action in Brazil because he is only 16 and it won’t be before 2024 that he can arrive in England.

At the same time, Real Madrid are also keeping close tabs on Erling Haaland, but signing him is no longer seen as a priority, due to wages and his fitness record.

Diaz writes that the Madrid entity has its doubts over the forward’s injury record, which is, in fact, the main concern. On top of that, his salary, which is quoted to be around €1 million per week is another roadblock.

As it turns out, Endrick and his representatives are aware of what Madrid thinks of Haaland. The 16-year-old’s camp does not want him to coincide with the Manchester City superstar at the same place and time as they see the duo as incompatible and it could hamper the youngster’s progress.

Hence, with Real Madrid not prioritising a move for Haaland, their chances of landing Endrick have gone up. The European champions have the edge but in order to close a deal, they must shell out as much as €60 million for the Brazilian, which is his release clause with the Sao Paulo-based team.
