Last summer, Kylian Mbappe had made headlines by acquiring a stake in French club SM Caen for a figure of around €20 million.
Now, it appears Mbappe’s Real Madrid teammate Vinicius Jr. has followed in his footsteps by acquiring a club in Portugal.
As reported by Record (h/t AS), the Brazilian has set his sights on Portugal, becoming one of the new owners of FC Alverca.
The deal will see the winger acquire a majority stake in the club alongside a few Brazilian and Portuguese investors. The exact figures behind the deal, though, has not yet been disclosed.
Located in Alverca do Ribatejo, near Lisbon, FC Alverca is currently competing in Liga Portugal 2, sitting just two points behind leaders Tondela. If they finish in the top two, they will secure automatic promotion to Portugal’s top division.

The club have a rich history with strong Brazilian ties, boasting 15 Brazilian players in their current squad. Portuguese coach Vasco Botelho da Costa leads the team as they push for a return to the first division.
The report adds that current CEO Matheus Ornelas will remain in charge until the end of the season, with more details on the club’s new leadership expected in the coming weeks.
The announcement will include the revelation of Vinicius’ partner investors. Therefore, it is safe to say that the coming months could prove to be crucial Alverca.
However, the club would be cautious about not letting the off-the-pitch development impact the mentality of the players, as they gear up for a crucial part of the campaign, where their mettle will be tested.
