Manchester City and Pep Guardiola will be keeping an eager eye on the fitness of Eduardo Camavinga after the Real Madrid star suffered a suspected ankle injury.

Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti will battle in the UEFA Champions League for a third consecutive campaign next month, with Manchester City and Real Madrid meeting in the quarter-final stages of this season’s competition.

Manchester City emphatically overcame the La Liga giants in the semi-finals as part of a maiden Champions League triumph last season, and are unbeaten in the European competition since a last-gasp loss at the Santiago Bernabéu in May 2022.

City travel to Madrid for the first-leg of the quarter-final tie on Tuesday 9th April before the second-leg at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday 17th April.

The Sky Blues are sweating on the fitness of Kyle Walker, John Stones, Manuel Akanji and Matheus Nunes, after the four players all suffered suspected injuries during recent international friendlies.

Goalkeeper Ederson missed international duty for Brazil due to a muscular injury suffered at Anfield, meanwhile Kevin De Bruyne and Jack Grealish were omitted from their respective national team squad’s due to injury concerns.

Real Madrid also face a fitness worry ahead of next month’s first-leg clash with Manchester City, after star Eduardo Camavinga suffered a suspected ankle injury during Tuesday night’s international friendlies.

The 21-year-old was withdrawn during the first-half of France’s 3-2 win over Chile, and is facing the prospect of at least two-weeks on the sidelines as a result of the problem, according to a Diario AS report relayed by outlet Football Espana.

The versatile midfielder has featured in six Champions League matches for Real Madrid so far this season and has also made 22 La Liga appearances.

Real Madrid play just one game before the first-leg clash with City at the Bernabéu, meanwhile Guardiola’s side face three crucial Premier League fixtures against Arsenal, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace prior to travelling to the Spanish capital.
