Jeremy de Leon, considered a lucky charm for Real Madrid, is facing a difficult campaign with Castilla.

The Puerto Rican winger has barely had a chance to showcase his talent this season, with injuries preventing him from finding any rhythm on the pitch.

His latest setback came during his national team’s clash against the Dominican Republic, where he had to leave the field in tears after just 26 minutes, reports MARCA.

The issue was once again related to his left shoulder, the same area that required surgery last November. This time, Real Madrid will evaluate whether to use the Jude Bellingham method or a new operation.

Injuries ruining his chances

This marks his third injury this season, adding to a frustrating spell. Initially, he missed a month due to an ankle sprain sustained in training with Real Madrid’s first team.

That was followed by his shoulder surgery, which kept him sidelined for nearly three months. Just when he was on the road to recovery, another injury in the same area has put his return on hold.

De Leon’s arrival at Real Madrid in January 2024 from Castellón generated significant interest, particularly after Carlo Ancelotti included him in the squad for Champions League matches.

Although he was not registered to play, he was part of the squad that triumphed over Dortmund at Wembley, adding a European Cup to his record.

Ancelotti made it clear that his presence was not based on superstition but rather to help him gain experience and complete training sessions during the team’s travels.

Despite this promising introduction, de Leon has struggled to establish himself in Castilla due to his persistent injuries.

With limited playing time at the youth level, his national team appearances offered a much-needed outlet, as he remains an important figure for Puerto Rico.

However, this latest setback has once again disrupted his progress, leaving his future uncertain as he battles to regain full fitness.
