Kylian Mbappé may have turned down Real Madrid last summer, but the Spanish giants are not giving up on finding a way to sign him just yet.

Relevo have reported that Mbappé has apologised to Real’s president, Florentino Pérez, and that Pérez feels positive about signing the Frenchman on a free transfer in 2024.

The PSG star has the option to extend his contract by a year until 2025, but Los Blancos are confident that he will decide against that route, and that they will be able to pick him up as a free agent.

Mbappé has helped PSG win the Ligue 1 title but, like the club’s directors, will be disappointed with their European form in 2022-23.

Erling Haaland made the move to Manchester City last summer and has seen his reputation increase immeasurably. Vinícius Júnior regularly shines in the Champions League, and the world watches in awe.

Mbappé will not want to be left behind when he is expected to be the leader of the next generation of football stars. A move to Real Madrid will only enhance his profile. Japtej Ghura | GSFN
