Next summer’s transfer window should be a big one for Real Madrid. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alphonso Davies are already being seriously targeted, and the same can now be said for Florian Wirtz.
Wirtz has been on Los Blancos’ radar for some time, and it appears that 2025 will be the time that they make their move. According to Florian Plettenberg (via Diario AS), Real Madrid “are seriously interested” in the 21-year-old playmaker, who is also in the sights of Manchester City.
Real Madrid have also entered into preliminary negotiations with Wirtz’s representatives, although for now, nothing is in the offing with Bayer Leverkusen. The reigning Bundesliga champions remain optimistic about keeping their prized asset, despite the strong interest in his services.
Despite this, it won’t be easy for Leverkusen to retain Wirtz, whose asking price is believed to be in the region of €120-150m. Real Madrid will be prepared to pay this if necessary, as they have the funds at their disposal.
