Real Madrid get their sixth competition of the season underway this week. Our team will play the Club World Cup in Rabat (Morocco) and will kick off their semi-final against Al Ahly on Wednesday (8pm CET). To get to this round, the Egyptian side have had to win two games in the Club World Cup. They beat Auckland City 3-0 in the first round and then beat Seattle Sounders 1-0.

The other semi-final sees Flamengo and Al Hilal play each other. These are possible opponents in Saturday's final (8pm CET) or in the match for third and fourth place (4:30pm CET), depending on the result.

Our team are the club that has won the most Club World Cups in history and they will be looking for their eighth title in Morocco. The first three trophies came in the Intercontinental Cup in 1960 (against Peñarol), 1998 (Vasco de Gama) and 2002 (Olimpia de Asunción). In 2014, Real Madrid won the trophy in the current format of the Club World Cup, also in Morocco, with Ancelotti as coach, and with San Lorenzo de Almagro as their opponents in the final. They would go on to win three consecutive tournaments, a feat no one has repeated: 2016, in Japan and against Kashima Antlers in the final; 2017, in the United Arab Emirates against Gremio; and 2018, also in the United Arab Emirates against Al Ain.

Al Ahly This year's semi-final opponents are the current runners-up in the African Champions League. The Egyptian team are at the Club World Cup because the last African champions (Wydad AC) are Moroccan. In order not to have two teams from the same country (one of the places in the Club World Cup goes to the host), FIFA decided to give it to the runner-up of the African Confederation. Al Ahly have won the African Champions League the most times (10) and are the most successful team in Egypt. They also have the record number of matches played in the current format of the Club World Cup (20).
