Supporters of La Liga giants Real Madrid will be forced to wait some time yet before seeing defender David Alaba back on the pitch in the club’s colours.

That’s according to Relevo, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes at Valdebebas.

Stopper Alaba, for his part, has of course been confined to the sidelines since December of last year.

As much comes after the Austrian international became the third member of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad in the space of mere months to suffer a torn ACL.

Alaba, in turn, went under the knife to repair the problem, with the aim of linking back up with his teammates in Madrid early this season.

The initial hope was that the former Bayern Munich man would be fit and available to feature in a competitive setting by October, this month.

This, however, has since proven to be far from the case.

Alaba, instead, remains some way off taking his place back on the pitch.

As per a report from Relevo, the expectation, now, is that the 32-year-old will mark his comeback at some point in January of 2025, three months from now.

Amid something of a crisis at the heart of his defence, manager Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping for some positive news on Alaba sooner rather than later.
