A headline member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has seen his name put forth for a prestigious individual prize.

The accolade in question? Champions League Player of the Week.

Real, of course, marked their return to action on the continent on Tuesday night, making the trip to the Allianz Arena for the first leg of the club’s semi-final showdown with Bayern Munich.

When all was said and done, the two sides could not be separated, on their way to a 2-2 stalemate.

And proving himself the star of the show across the 90 minutes in Bavaria was the visitors’ Vinícius Jr.

Afforded a starting berth through the heart of Real Madrid’s attack, Vinícius shone bright, opening the scoring courtesy of a cool first-time finish, before dragging Los Blancos on level terms late on from the penalty spot.

And, as alluded to above, such exploits have proven enough to place the 23-year-old in the running for Champions League Player of the Week.

As unveiled across UEFA’s social media platforms late on Wednesday night, the prize will go to either Vinícius, or Borussia Dortmund stalwart Mats Hummels:
