Carlo Ancelotti is ready to slot a headline member of his defensive ranks directly back into Real Madrid’s XI, in the case of him being passed fit.

That’s according to Marca, who point towards Antonio Rüdiger as the player in question.

Stopper Rüdiger has for his part been sidelined since the beginning of the month.

This comes after the German international was forced into a premature departure from Real Madrid’s shock 1-0 defeat at the hands of Espanyol.

Ensuing tests revealed that Rüdiger had suffered ‘an injury to the biceps femoris in his right leg’, ruling the former Chelsea man out of Los Blancos’ last four fixtures.

As alluded to above, though, next time out, the 31-year-old could well be in line for an immediate return to starting duties.

As per a report from Marca, amid the ongoing personnel problems in Real’s backline:

‘Rüdiger, if he is finally fit, will go straight into the starting eleven against Manchester City’ on Wednesday night.
