This weekend marked the start of new chapters for Paris Saint-Germain and its all-time leading goal scorer, Kylian Mbappé. Luis Enrique and his team started a new season without the Frenchman while the forward began playing in La Liga with Real Madrid.

Mbappé played his first game with the Spanish giants, a 2-0 win over Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup. However, that positive momentum didn’t translate into the 25-year-old’s first La Liga match against RCD Mallorca, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Furthermore, outside of the goal against Atalanta, Mbappé hasn’t been an influential figure in Real Madrid’s attack as StatMuse pointed out that the former PSG standout has created zero chances in two games with Real Madrid.

On the other hand, PSG showed in their first match against Le Havre that they might be able to replace the goal production that Mbappé has left behind. The team netted four goals in the win, with each one coming from a different player. Instead of relying on a single individual, they’re stepping up collectively to fill his shoes.

Ousmane Dembélé stated on Friday that the team will need for everyone to step up and replace Mbappé’s production.

“Scoring goals is going to be crucial now, especially since we’ve lost someone who used to score a lot,” Dembélé said. “All the attackers will need to step up because we’ve lost a key player.”
