La Liga giants Real Madrid have been dealt a fresh blow on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that Dani Ceballos is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Midfielder Ceballos, for his part, was in from the off once more on Wednesday night, as Real Madrid made the trip to Anoeta for a Copa del Rey semi-final first-leg showdown with Real Sociedad.
When all was said and done, Los Blancos emerged on the right side of the result, courtesy of a solitary strike on the part of Endrick.
As alluded to above, though, their eventual victory came at a cost for Carlo Ancelotti and co.
During the closing exchanges in San Sebastian, the aforementioned Dani Ceballos went to ground in evident distress, clutching his knee.
After being seen to by the visitors’ medical staff, the former Arsenal man was helped from the field of play, looking visibly upset on his way off.
And an ensuing round of tests on Thursday have confirmed a blow for club and player alike.
As per a statement across Real Madrid’s website and social media platforms:
‘Following tests carried out today on Dani Ceballos by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the semimembranosus muscle affecting the tendon in his left hamstring.’
Though no information regarding the extent of Ceballos’ upcoming absence is provided, ensuing reports have pointed towards a likely spell of around two months on the treatment table.
