The ‘unsung hero’ in Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid squad has continued to prove himself decisive in the club’s latest outing.
Real, of course, are currently locked in action once more.
Fresh off a 3-2 downing of Manchester City in the Champions League in midweek, Los Blancos have turned attentions back towards matters on the domestic front, in a La Liga trip to Osasuna.
And, as things stand, Ancelotti’s troops find themselves headed towards a fresh three-point haul.
This comes owing to a close-range finish on the part of the in-form Kylian Mbappé.
In the aftermath of the evening’s opener on Saturday, though, it is the name of another Real Madrid star which has stolen the headlines.
Federico Valverde, as expected, was afforded his latest starting berth at El Sadar.
As much came in an unfamiliar position at right-back, amid the ongoing absences of both Dani Carvajal, and Lucas Vázquez.
And yet, the Uruguayan, as proved the case in midweek against Man City, has not looked even remotely out of place.
Solid in his defending and superb on the ball, Valverde was responsible for a surging run and pinpoint delivery from the right flank to tee up Mbappé’s opener.
And in the process, the 26-year-old, the ultimate professional, only continued to add to his reputation as Real Madrid’s undisputed unsung hero.
