Carlo Ancelotti’s side looked as if they were still feeling the effects from the late loss in Paris and almost found themselves behind midway through the first half.

Casemiro’s mistake left Alavés winger Jason with a free shot from 15 yards out but Spaniard skied his shot.

It was started to feel like it was going to be one of those frustrating nights for Los Blancos but Marco Asensio broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute to ease the worries of the hosts.

The 26-year-old cut inside on his left foot and curled a shot into the top corner past the hapless Fernando Pacheco.

Karim Benzema then hit the post before Vinícius Junior doubled their advantage with 10 minutes left, lashing into the back of the net after some smart link-up play between Benzema and Asensio.

Benzema then scored his first goal since his return from injury, dispatching from the penalty spot in stoppage time.

Real extend their lead at the top of LaLiga back to seven points with Sevilla facing Espanyol on Sunday.
