At a time when Real Madrid have struggled with form and injuries, Raul Asencio’s rapid rise to prominence has been a rare positive for the club.

The young defensive prodigy has done exceedingly well since his debut against Osasuna, where he notably secured an assist.

Asencio has fared well at centre-back alongside Antonio Rudiger, helping Real Madrid cope with the absence of Eder Militao and David Alaba.

Real Madrid looking to confirm Asencio renewal

Now, as reported by Madridista Real, Real Madrid are looking to secure Asencio’s long-term future at the club as a priority.

The 21-year-old’s current contract is set to expire in 2026, but the club is keen to tie him down to a new deal as soon as possible.

Negotiations are already underway, and sources suggest that an agreement could be reached in the coming weeks.

The club’s decision to prioritize Asencio’s renewal is a clear indication of their belief in his abilities.

The young defender’s calmness on the ball, his ability to read the game, and his physicality make him a perfect fit for the Real Madrid style of play.

Comparions to Sergio Ramos

In light of Asencio’s rapid growth in the first-team, some have even started comparing the youngster to the legendary Sergio Ramos.

Interestingly, Ramos has been linked with a return to Bernabeu following the club’s recent injury woes. However, Real Madrid remain persistent on the idea of avoiding the move.

As for Asencio, Los Blancos have already started looking at him as a first-team material. Whether or not he can continue the growth trajectory during the second half of the season remains to be seen.
