Carlo Ancelotti’s future is the talk of the town. Real Madrid’s poor performance domestically has put the manager under pressure and it is now unclear whether he will continue beyond June.

The story so far has been that the Italian tactician wishes to continue with the uncertainty looming at the administration’s end. Florentino Perez asks for just one more trophy this season from Ancelotti and failure to do so could see the end of the Italian in Madrid.

Josep Pedrerol, Real Madrid’s relationship with Ancelotti is excellent. However, the club will allow him to leave if he asks to part ways before the end of his contract, which expires in 2024.

The veteran coach is said to see the club as his priority. However, things could change with the entry of the Brazilian national team.

The Selecao have Ancelotti as their prime candidate to take over the reins in the summer and continue to wait and gauge his situation.

Further, Ancelotti’s own players at Real Madrid have publicly spoken of the probability of the move taking place. Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo Goes hinted that the manager wished to take up the new challenge while ex-Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro refused to do so.

If Ancelotti wishes to continue in his job at Real Madrid, however, every game from here on in the UCL and Copa del Rey becomes a final. The men in white can afford no more slip-ups for both the competitions they remain alive are in knockout formats.

Los Blancos take on Barcelona in the second leg of the Spanish Cup semifinal early in April. Soon after, the European Champions will host Chelsea in the UCL quarter-final first leg before travelling to Stamford Bridge later in April for the second leg.
