For a long time now, Real Madrid have been linked with a move for the Espanyol defender Mario Hermoso.
However, according to Marca that deal may no longer be on the cards.
The Spanish daily, known for its close connections to the club, reports that the prospect of the deal being completed have cooled thanks to the form of Javi Sánchez.
Javi Sánchez, a central defender who can play with both feet and is known his ability to being the ball out of defence, has impressed the Madrid hierarchy at under-age levels as well in his few appearances for the senior team.
The 21-year-old started for Los Blancos in their midweek Copa del Rey win over Melilla and marked the occasion with his first goal for the club.
Javi Sánchez joined Real Madrid at the age of seven and has captained the youth teams.
