Real Madrid ready to answer Carlo Ancelotti’s defender request | OneFootball

A major update on the future of Real Madrid star Ferland Mendy has come to the fore this weekend.

The info comes courtesy of Marca, and points towards Mendy having done enough to convince all associated with the capital giants of his long-term continuity at the club.

The former Lyon man, for his part, is in the midst of arguably his best season to date in Real Madrid’s colours.

A mainstay on the left side of Los Blancos’ backline, Mendy has continued to build on his reputation as arguably, from a defensive standpoint at least, the world’s best in his role.

So much so that, according to Marca, the 28-year-old is all set to be rewarded with a new contract at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Carlo Ancelotti, for his part, has long been pushing for Mendy to stay put, in the face of links between Real and Bayern Munich standout Alphonso Davies.

With interest in the Canadian seemingly cooling, however, and Mendy’s terms set to expire in the summer of 2025, a renewal offer will soon be put before the latter’s entourage.

And, with all parties eager to continue their relationship for years to come, an accord should not prove a difficult one to come by.
