With his contract expiring in 2025, the Bayern Munich fullback Alphonso Davies was expected to be highly in demand in the European market this summer; but since Real Madrid entered the scene, no other club has set a foot in this pond.

According to Mario Cortegana, the Spanish club has reached a verbal agreement with the Bayern-full back. The only missing piece of the puzzle is the price tag and Real Madrid believe that Bayern will come to an agreement due to a good relationship between both clubs.

The price tag in mind of the Los Blancos executives is of €50 million. However, if an agreement is not reached, the Canadian will join Real Madrid on a free transfer in 2025.

Davies’ arrival can mean the potential departure of Ferland Mendy and Fran García, since Davies would be a starter, even though Carlo Ancelotti has made it clear that he would like Mendy to renew his contract. The Italian has always regarded Mendy’s defensive capabilities highly and wants him to say.

As far as Fran García is concerned, he is below Mendy in the pecking order even now and Davies’ arrival would mean a definitive departure on a permanent transfer or even a loan deal.

To add to the left-back dilemma at the club, there is also the option of Miguel Gutiérrez, who is at Girona currently but Real Madrid retain 50% of his rights and also have a sell-on clause on his contract.

The Madrid club can look to sign him for €8 million – which would be a bargain in this market – and may look to sell him to certain Premier League clubs who have shown an interest in the Spaniard.

Real Madrid have been on the lookout for Marcelo’s heir since his departure and Alphonso Davies’ seems like the chosen one. Ferland Mendy and Fran García do not possess the attacking capabilities that Marcelo does, but the Canadian has shown that he does.

Madridistas around the world are looking forward to Davies’ potential arrival at the club. Will Real Madrid be able to solve the left-back mess in time? Many eyes will be fixated on this.
