The future of Real Madrid’s centre-back position has been a subject of discussion for a while now. After all, the core of Los Blancos’ defence David Alaba, Nacho Fernandez and Antonio Rudiger are all on the wrong side of 30.
Eder Militao is the one name the club can hope to rely on in the long run. One of the best-placed candidates to join him, as relayed several times in recent weeks, is young Leny Yoro.
Lille’s 18-year-old centre-back, Yoro, has caught the eye of several of Europe’s elite in recent times. At a young age, he has already made himself a regular with the senior team and is one of the key pillars in Paulo Fonseca’s project.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid are one of the several clubs vying for the youngster’s signature. Their biggest competition on that front includes the likes of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG, on that front, appear to be the biggest threat to Los Blancos’ plans considering that they are based in France.
As a French player himself, the proposal of playing at the elite level from his home country could tempt Yoro. Luis Enrique’s side are currently working to sign the defender as early as the coming January.

However, word has it that the player wishes to continue with Lille until next summer when he will decide his next step, which could provide Real Madrid more time to make their move.
A combination of Yoro’s young age and immense potential impart a gargantuan fee to his transfer.
According to MD, any interested party must shell out between €40 million to €50 million to sign the talented defender.
The 18-year-old’s contract with Lille runs until the summer of 2025, and it is clear that the French club will hold the upper hand in any negotiations that ensue.
The only factor that remains to be seen is how far the Merengues are willing to go to sign the protege.
