Manchester United have been one of three clubs to be heavily linked with a summer move for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane. However, despite the relentless speculation, according to the club’s president Florentino Perez, Los Blancos have yet to receive an official bid for their star centre-back.

That’s according to the man himself who recently spoke with reporters (as quoted by MEN).

Varane, 28, is currently away on international duty with France competing in this summer’s delayed European Championships.

However, despite being focused on an important up and coming Round of 16 tie against Switzerland, the defender continues to see his long-term domestic future speculated.

Confirming the current situation surrounding the commanding defender, Perez said: “We’ve not received any official bid for Raphael Varane.

“He’s at the Euros now then we will see what happens – if he wants to leave the club this summer, he’ll say it”.

Varane has been a standout performer in the Euros so far.

With his country unbeaten in their group games, despite being matched against Germany, Portugal and Hungary, Didier Deschamps Les Bleus look to be well on their way to reaching this summer’s final.

United may be hoping the French don’t go all the way though – should Varane go on to lift the Euros, just three years after he did the World Cup, the Red Devils will expect Real Madrid valuation to sky-rocket.
